Its easy! Just go to your local post office, tell them that you would like to change Kupot, sign the form and that’s it! In 2-3 days, you will have access to our great staff, laboratory services and some medications. It will usually take 1-2 months for you to become a full member of the Kupah depending on the date you sign up. Ask any of the secretaries for the details on when you will become a full member. If the post office thing seems a little intimidating, let us know and we will coordinate a volunteer to help you at the post office or call Amit at 052-6000258
There’s lots of reasons! But the most important is Quality of physicians, Service, and Availibility.
Quality: our physicians have fantastic training (Harvard, Johns Hopkins/Sinai, Einstein, etc.); they keep up date with the most recent advances in medicine; they are consultants to many local and national Rabbanim.
Service: Our physicians want to spend time with patients! (20-60 minute visits);they are committed to their patients (when there is an admission to the hospital, they will either visit you personally, or will be in close contact with the hospital staff regarding your care.); we give lectures regularly on topics of interest to you; we are the only kupah with a local website with constantly updated information that is relevant to you!
Availability: We are the only Kupah offerring 24 hour a day phone coverage by at least one of the physicians in our group(usually your own doctor will be available). All of our doctors have Blackberry’s with email access. We are the only kupah open motzei shabbat and motzei chag.
Check out our schedule.
Of course! While it is illegal for any worker in the Kupah to come with you to the office, we have volunteers to help out with new olim. Call Tova at 054-331-6454.

What we lack in size, we make up for in service! No kupah has service like Leumit including a physician from the branch available 24 hours, email access to physicians, our own (meaning our branch) personalized website in English and Hebrew and special section for Olim and residents of Beit Shemesh. Come in and meet the doctors and staff and you’ll see the Leumit difference. In addition, Leumit is planning on opening a large branch in the main shopping area in Ramat Beit Shemesh Alef (and continuing to staff the old branch as well)
Regarding emergency room visits, hospitalizations for acute illnesses and pregnancy and delivery, the physician and patient can decide where they want to go without limitation. Regarding other hospital based procedures such as radiological imaging or surgical procedures, each kupah has a preference for each procedure. If there is a specific procedure that you would like to know about, please call the kupah.
In general, there are not big differences. One major benefit of Leumit’s policy is the ability to be able to go for a second opinion to any doctor in the country (with at least 5 years of experience) and receive 80% of the cost of the visit back. Most kupot require you to a doctor who is on their list of second opinion specialists. The list is often very limited and often it is only to the head of a department in a hospital.
Leumit’s comparison between the policies(albeit in Hebrew) can be found in the Supplementary Insurance Guide by clicking here.
You can take a look at our comparison charts.
We have an outstanding child development program that provides OT, PT, and speech. Speech therapy is available in English, Hebrew and Yiddish. The cost per visit is the lowest of any of the Kupot. “Me and my husband used to fight about who would take the kids to the doctor because neither of us wanted to go. Now we fight about who will take the kids to the doctor because we BOTH want to go!”
“When I arrived (at the kupa), I was surprised by the pretty garden, climbing structure for kids, fresh paint on the walls, etc. but was totally unprepared for what lay ahead. When I went in to see Dr. Wolff, I found a frum, American woman who actually introduced herself (no, I don’t think I’ve had a doctor do that in the past six years), spent enough time with me, asked questions, and quickly helped iron out a red tape problem with a prescription that I needed. After meeting with (the staff)and hearing about their vision for American style health care in Israel, we switched the rest of our family over to Leumit and couldn’t be happier. All of the doctors are friendly, thorough, helpful, take their time, available by email and cellphone and go out of their way to make things as easy as possible. It is great to feel like we are in such good hands. And my five year old BEGS to go to the doctor so he can climb on that play structure.”
“You guys call yourselves the “A-team”, but we call you the “Dream
Team.” Finally, I feel like a doctor is taking of all my and my family’s
issues instead of having to do everything myself. Thank you that you
opened.”
“It was so wonderful to have my doctor to call at 11pm when I got sick
and to have my doctor calling me and the doctors in the hospital when I
was in the hospital. I felt very cared for.”
